We installed the dishwasher two weeks ago and are quite pleased with its performance and variety of settings. It has an impressive capacity, fitting a large number of items. However, the installation instructions were lacking in clarity, and the user guide leaves much to be desired as well. This is our third KitchenAid dishwasher—both previous ones lasted over a decade—and their manuals were far superior.

Absolutely impressed! The layout and technical capabilities of this dishwasher are brilliantly conceived. We had to rethink where to place certain items, but KitchenAid has significantly increased our load capacity. For over twenty years, we relied on the Whirlpool Gold Series with its power scrubber and sani rinse, plus the unique utensil-on-the-door design, which we adored. After rebuilding that system about eight years ago, it finally gave out. It took us some time to find a replacement that could offer even more functionality, and this model certainly delivers. While our previous dishwasher was quiet, this one is practically silent. The longer cycles are a non-issue thanks to its ultra-quiet operation, and we can run it during other kitchen activities without disruption. The water and energy efficiency during heating is a major bonus. This unit excels in cleaning and drying, particularly in the top third rack for glassware, and the LED interior lighting is a fantastic feature.
Installation was simple, and it integrates perfectly with our garbage disposal. One minor improvement suggestion: the instructions should advise carefully removing the plastic film around the handle attachments before installing the handle horizontally. This would prevent any plastic residue from sticking around the handle bases. The current guidance to leave the film until installation makes sense to protect the Print Shield surface, but removing it afterward risks scratching the surface when adjusting the handle. I’ve left a bit of plastic residue in place after pulling away what I could, but it’s a minor issue. Overall, I highly recommend this dishwasher!

While this new model is wonderfully quiet—such a relief—I’ve noticed that, despite using the recommended cleaner and rinse agent, the insides of our glasses now come out with a cloudy film.

This dishwasher stands as the finest we’ve ever owned. The only reason it doesn’t receive a perfect five-star rating is due to the sensitivity and placement of the control buttons on top of the door. Occasionally, when closing the door, my hand inadvertently activates a button, initiating an unintended cycle; fortunately, this can be rectified by pressing “Cancel” if noticed in time.
What truly endears us to this machine—and makes us confident we would purchase it again—is its remarkable versatility. The three adjustable racks offer unparalleled flexibility:
1. The shallow upper third rack is perfect not only for tea and coffee cups but also for small, incidental items that previously had to be washed by hand due to their space requirements in our old two-rack model.
2. The middle rack’s ability to be adjusted up and down allows for ample height in the lower rack, accommodating larger items like tall mixing bowls and a substantial porcelain bread box.
3. I’m particularly impressed by the adjustable tines on the middle and bottom racks, which allow for custom fitting of bowls and other oddly shaped items. This feature prevents items from collapsing into one another and ensures proper drying. I can even angle tricky pieces from our coffee maker’s basket so they dry thoroughly without needing manual intervention. Additionally, the option to extend the drying time by 15 minutes for items prone to pooling water has been a welcome improvement.
The dishwasher’s large capacity means that, for the two of us, running it every three to four days suffices, and its quiet operation allows it to run unobtrusively while we enjoy our evening TV.
Overall, this dishwasher has surpassed our expectations in nearly every respect. Despite the minor issue with the sensitive buttons, the advantages far outweigh this inconvenience. If we were to move, we would certainly choose this model again. Kudos to KitchenAid for delivering such an exceptional product!
